There is much to know about Maddy Proud, but the one thing is for sure: she is a great example of fulfilling her God Given potential.
24 year old Maddy is the current starting Centre for the NSW Swifts. A full-time netball career is demanding, no doubt, but in her ‘spare time’ Maddy has also completed a Bachelor degree in Management (Marketing), commenced a Masters degree in Creative Writing, established a YouTube channel, and hey, did we mention she has written and published a novel and is now writing her second book?
Grace on the Court is Maddy’s first title and centres around Grace Parker as she starts high school and tries to work out how to handle boys, boy bands and netball of course. Maddy spoke with Stage 3 and Year 7 about why she decided to write a book and some of the challenges she faced through that process.
She also spoke about getting feedback (both on writing and netball) and how hard that can be but also how it helps to form her and help her to improve.
Maddy is proudly Catholic and spoke with students about how her faith helps her through difficult times and also gives her perspective.
Following Maddy’s talk with the students, she and Ali Miller, a NSW Swifts Training Partner, headed outside to run a netball skills session with our Under 10 and Under 12 netball teams. Students really enjoyed Maddy’s visit, both the talk and the skills session and they were very grateful for the opportunity.

Today we celebrate the life and legacy of St. Mary MacKillop who was born on this day in 1842. Mary was a woman of great courage, compassion, and determination who dedicated her life to serving others, particularly the poor and disadvantaged. At St Luke’s we want to nurture the same values in our students—compassion, resilience, courage, and a commitment to making a difference in the world. Just as Mary MacKillop showed that no challenge is too great, we encourage our students to stand up against inequality and make a difference. May her legacy continue to inspire us all to lead with perseverance, passion, and purpose.

At St. Luke's, we are always looking for global opportunities that allow our students to grow, engage, collaborate, and lead. Buddies Without Borders offers students the chance to participate in month-long forums that bring together young global citizens to find solutions to world problems. Teams are made up of students from all around the world who are assigned a country to represent. They work together to debate, co-author, and present their ideas. One of our students, Kanishk, showed a high level of commitment to the program that included collaborating on weekends. These forums offer students the chance to earn international internships and leadership roles and we are excited to see our students take full advantage of these opportunities. Recently, three of our students had the opportunity to dive into the world of childcare and gain valuable hands-on experience through the TAFE Youth Engagement Strategy (YES Program). These designs are an effortless way you can transform the College hat to be more inclusive of our Sikh boys. The pictures below showcase a quick and easy hack to allow our hats to fit over a Patka or Turban, ensuring maximum sun safety. We encourage our Sikh community to spend some time over the holidays completing a simple modification of the hat so that your son can be protected from the harmful rays of the sun in the new year.
